The Goethe-Zentrum Ahmedabad was inaugurated on the 23rd February 2008 by Mr Stechel, the Consul General of Mumbai Consulate.
This is the virtual library of the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan in India. This service allows you to borrow digital media, such as ebooks, audio and video files, electronic newspapers and magazines, for a predetermined period of time.
The Goethe-Zentrum offers a variety of cultural events in Music, Theater, Films and other Arts on a regular basis. All the programs are offered free to the general public.
The Goethe-Institut is named after the renowned German scholar Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It is a non-profit German cultural institution operational worldwide, promoting the study of the German language abroad and encouraging international cultural exchange and relations.
The Goethe-Institut also fosters knowledge about Germany by providing information on German culture, society and politics. This includes not only the exchange of films, music, theatre, literature, and the like, but also the values of civil society. Goethe cultural societies and language centers have played a central role in the cultural and educational policies of Germany for close to 60 years.
The Goethe-Zentrum Ahmedabad is a part of the Indo- German language and Cultural Society (IGLCS) working under auspices of the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan . The main aim of the Goethe-Zentrum is promoting the German Language and Culture in Gujarat and Ahmedabad in particular.
